This past week was better, as I knew it would be. Still not amazing, though. I could really use some friends.
On Friday I was talking to Lauren, who was hired by TVCS to run "Play Team" for the older kids, and I finally realized that she had expected it to be more structured than it was, too. She agreed that basically we were expected to run a daycare, and the one goal was for the kids to have fun, and spread the word, so that more kids would come, and TVCS would actually make money. She said she was frustrated, but not too much, because she moved to Teton Valley for the place, not the job. She said she could understand why it would be frustrating for me, though, because first of all, I wasn't getting paid, and secondly, I was supposed to be gaining experience. SO it would good to find out we're on the same page. She even said, although the kids might not like it, she was willing to structure it to teach them some stuff, if I wanted to. Too bad I'm with the "tinies", 3-4 year olds, next week.
On Friday night I just chilled out and watched a movie, and had the house all to myself. On Saturday morning I went to a crafts fair in Victor, and then drove over to Jackson, and hung out on campus all day.
Today I went on an amazing hike up Paintbrush Canyon with Lenka and Erin V. It was 85 degrees, at least, and at the top, there was also probably 4 or 5 feet of snow. Awesome! We slipped and slid all the way down. The view was amazing! On our way down we saw a Black Bear, about 50 meters away! So cool. At the very bottom we swam in Leigh Lake, and then got ice cream, and drove home for dinner. It was really really fun just to hike all day!
I would write more, but my work is finally beginning to pile up, and I should go plan next week with the little guys. I'm going to teach them that there are many different kinds of plants. That's a good learning goal for that age, right?
I hope you all are well!
Mel
sorry to hear that the job part isn't the best experience, but all the outdoor adventures sound great! Would love to hear how kids respond to your botany lesson! =D
